Shades of Blue

(2025)
Abstract Painting - Acrylic on Canvas

This piece was created for @ucastretched, focusing on the beauty of simplicity and the potential found within a restricted palette. By diluting a single shade of blue acrylic with white, I explored the creation of varying hues and depths from a singular source. Moving away from traditional brushes, I built the shapes and textures using a collection of unconventional objects including a rubber band, a pen lid, a rolling pin and various clay tools. This experimental approach allowed for a unique tactile quality, where the marks made by everyday items invite the viewer to look closer. The final work celebrates the intersection of minimal colour and complex texture, demonstrating how limited materials can produce a rich and immersive visual experience.
